A Travellerspoint blog

Cuòwù (faux pas)

We have seen a few of the inevitable slip-ups that have made us chuckle.
Here are a few that we saw and had the happy fortune of a camera at hand ...

In a restaurant - can't be what they mean. Surely.

In a hostel in Shanghai: an easy mistake to make...

In a supermarket:

An 'acquired taste' is probably not a thing you want to advertise too loudly.

The name of the cafe... I wonder what they serve?

Butcher: I don't know: maybe 'fresh meat'?

Coffee shop: No hard feelings intended of course, but this one was a shocker. - coffee mill maybe?

This was in a train station in Shanghai. Such good intentions.

Juice Bar: again, you know what they were going for, right?
