Xiàmén dàxué (University)

厦门大学

Xiamen University is known as the most beautiful university in China.
I had still not seen it after living in Xiamen for 4 months, so decided it was time to change that.

A friend who studies there took us around the campus one afternoon, and I could instantly see that the University's claim is a valid one.

It is ideally located with the ocean and all its beach fun and sea breezes at the front, and mountains with all the temples and parks at the back.
Elizabeth Bennet's "I have never seen a place more happily situated," came to mind.

There are both historic buildings and high-tech modern university facilities. The campus has two lakes. Two.

We went up to the top of one of the academic buildings to gaze at the ocean for a good long while before continuing our 'hike' around the campus.

There are so many lush spots to study in, it was quite difficult to resist the temptation to immediately sit down and take out a book.

We ended up in a lovely cafe on a hill where we watched the sun go down with our friend the chocolate bear.
