Xiānggǎng (Hong Kong)

香港

Hong Kong is a very special and unique island.

I was in Hong Kong for 1 night, and it was enough to know I would be happy to stay forever.
It is a perfect balance of west and east.

The organised 'civilisation' of the west frames the colour and culture of the east in an unlikely harmony.

The delicacies of each country around the world are all available in abundance.

I even found the much-prized French macarons.

And then a favourite of mine that is a case in point: green tea frozen yoghurt.

The shopping malls are spectacular: both commercial and artistic,

offering the peace of 'gardens of eden' alongside the hustle of the shops inside.

The next morning involved a walk in Hong Kong park:

a literal oasis in a sea of glass skyscrapers.

A walk-through waterfall offered a comforting view of the world from behind a curtain of water.
