Singapore Airport

Wow.
On my journey from Xiamen to Jo'burg, I was fortunate enough to spend a few hours in the one and only Singapore Airport.
What a wondrous place it is. One can easily settle and live quite happily in the airport itself. It is the answer to every traveller's need.
The first thing that greeted me was the orchid garden. Beautiful. Flowing water, fish, flowers.
Next stop: the entertainment centre. A huge screen with comfy seats (headphones in seats, of course) and personal screens for browsing.
The whole airport is carpeted, creating a muted and peaceful atmosphere.
Second along the garden trail: The Sunflower Garden with lots of much needed fresh air, as it is on a rooftop. I am amazed how they keep these gardens so well- all the flowers were tall and healthy. An odd sight that: sunflowers in the moonlight.
Right opposite the sunflower garden is a movie theatre: a mini cinema with a line-up of movies showing round the clock. Just pop in whenever, totally free. Perfect for late-night transits.
And then food. There is a food court on the 2nd floor laid out in the eastern style: different 'stalls' each offering a famous delicacy from various places in South East Asia. Something for everyone. For me, a freshly blended watermelon juice!
There are more international restaurants and cafes as well- I had to stop and stare at this one with its magnificent display of French macarons.
The airport has 3 terminals, each with its own attractions, and I had enough time to wander them at will. Terminal 3 has and enchanting butterfly garden, waterfall and all.
Another cafe, another splendid array:
Designated sleeping areas, reading areas, internet areas, powdering rooms- answers to every traveller's prayers!
And lastly, the bamboo garden.
All I had to say when boarding the onward flight was: I'll be back, Singapore, I'll be back!
